A Beautiful Little World: Avna's Silent Story
In a small, vibrant classroom at Gavaksh, there’s a very special little girl—Avna. She’s only 7 years old, but her eyes carry a unique sparkle. Her smile, her gentle shyness, the way she comes to class dressed neatly every day—it touches the heart in the most unexpected way.
Avna is in Class 4 and consistently ranks first in her school. For the past three years, she’s been a dedicated student at our center. Every day she brings a fresh energy—clean clothes, neatly combed hair, like she’s preparing to meet someone very dear. Maybe she sees me as her favorite teacher.
And I must admit—I love meeting her too. I teach her, joke with her, ask her about her home. I understand her emotions through her eyes, because to this day, I’ve never heard her voice. She can speak, but she never has with me. With her best friend, she talks and laughs freely. But with me, our conversations happen through glances, smiles, and gestures.
Avna lives in a modest home with her parents and six siblings—all of whom study at our center. The house is small, but their dreams are vast.
Her mother is not just a mother—she is a woman of immense strength. From early morning until night, she is on her feet—making breakfast, doing laundry, getting the kids ready, and managing the household without a single complaint. Her love is hidden in every roti, every silent smile. She strives every day to fulfill the dreams of each of her children.
Avna’s father works as a wedding photographer under a local studio. Every photo he clicks is a precious memory for someone else, while his own dreams often get buried in life’s daily grind. Even so, he returns home every morning after a long night’s work, wearing a smile. For Avna, his love matters more than all the photographs in the world.
Between these two loving souls, little Avna is creating a beautiful world of her own. She prefers sitting quietly beside me over playing outside. She communicates with her eyes, her smile, her expressions—and I find that smile the most beautiful of all.
Sometimes I feel that the path I chose in life brought me here, just so I could be a small part of dreams like Avna’s. Maybe that’s why Gavaksh chose me, and I chose Gavaksh.
